Nice...
I'm starting to figure this site out!
Here's my story. I used to be a great athlete considering going pro until one day my body just stopped working. I couldn't figure out what was wrong with me and nothing seemed to be helping-- I would lose a lot of weight fast, then gain it all back and more even faster, but couldn't figure out why this was happening when I was so athletic. Also I couldn't tell why I never had muscle tone like other athletes.
Started working in nutrition. Met a friend who told me about a doctor at North Fulton Regional Hospital. He suspected Celiac and we did a blood panel, antibodies came back positive. Additionally tested on the border for type 2 diabetes-- meaning that I have chronically elevated insulin, renal and intestinal failure. Yep, what a party!
Decision: try to control problems through diet and live a semi-normal lifestyle, or.... well... don't like to even consider the other end of the spectrum.
Every day I'm learning. EVERY DAY! I track my intake, my output, my macros, my vitamins, my digestion-- you name it, I track it. I don't have it right yet... but I'm getting faster at fixing it when it's wrong, and I have a pretty substantial database of information in my noggin (one part of me that still works normally!)
Most of all, put my faith in God that He will help me manage the thing. Know he has given me this problem for a reason, and that we will pull through! Right on.
PS. Picture is of a beech (Fagus grandiflora) nut. I love trees!
